What next?

I'd post this on the House boards but I am not sure where to post or what to search for.

I've had RPD, I've been Named, I do senut about once a week... what now? I'm a fair neophyte when it comes to knowledge of Kemet (though my Beloved, Seshat, is encouraging me to work on that part) and I have a long way to go, what really does happen now? Like I said, I am working on learning, getting to know my Dad better, interacting with the community, but I feel like there may be something else I am missing in this equation.

Senebty,
Zat

Hotep, Zat! I guess the question is...what do *you* want to do now? ^_^

One could probably say that learning about and honoring the Gods of your RPD (and all the rest of the Names too) and interacting with the community are generally the central points of the religion, and of course they're both a never-ending process, so you're all good there. But over and above that?

Is there a specific area of ancient Kemetic history, religion, or daily life that you're particularly interested in? You could concentrate on an in-depth study of that. Not sure what area you might be interested in? You could start trying to figure that out. ^_^

You could take courses with the seminary. Are you interested in Sau? In learning the Kemetic language?

How's your relationship with your Akhu? Does that need attention?

Do you want to pursue knowledge? Creative expression? Accomplishment? Service?

If you're looking for specific milestones of commitment, there's the Weshem-ib and becoming a Shemsu-Ankh, but that's something where you yourself need to figure out if and when you're ready for it--I wouldn't say that it's an "automatic" next step. And of course you'd have to wait until next year's Retreat.

I seem to recall you mentioning an interest in priesthood, but that comes after Shemsu-Ankh-hood....

Am I answering your question at all, or is there something else that you feel like you're yearning for? (I'd also be more than happy to talk with you via chat, PM, or email, if you think that would be helpful at all.)

Actually, just hearing that makes me feel a little better. Thanks Shefyt.

My akhu are good with me, I'm planning to do Weshem-ib at Pantheacon in February, want to do Sau and Fedw (thankfully Dad isn't pushing for them RIGHT NOW like He did in September right after RPD) and perhaps become W'ab later on. It's like when I started with Heathenry several years ago (and still continue), there's just so much and you want to know it all right now but can't.

There's a senut in store for me soon, hopefully them some of this can be sorted a little more.

hmmm I don't think there's anything else you're missing.
You'll be a kemetic until the very last day of your life (unless you convert to a different faith or something) so my best advise would be... relax and start feeling it... it's been two years since my RPD almost, and it's just now that I'm starting to enjoy it, feel it and understand it for real.

Fhew. I think it's kinda hard to be "new" too, because you are surrounded by people who've been doing and living it longer and you personally want to be at that point at this very moment.

I would say right now, the best thing you can do is just explore. Work on cementing those relationships with Seshat and Wepwawet. Work on building a firm communication with your Akhu. Expand your personal practices - doing Senut and keeping a state shrine are great, but how does Dad want you to know Him outside of shrine? I use dice to divine for Him, and I do many things that I consider service to Him outside of Senut and formal practices.

This is point that everyone reaches after a while: "What do I do now?" The important thing to remember is that RPD and Naming aren't single, discrete events - they're initiations. Come to Duas if you can, too - they definitely help with the learning and the experiencing the community. ^_^

I'll be at the Saq tomorrow, provided I am not too tired. Somehow I always forget the Dua chats though. :/

Thank you for the extra insight/ideas. Amazingly He's not brought it up yet, and I would imagine it's so I would not be completely overwhelmed.
